Adventure Island is located on Ram Murthy Passi Marg in Sector 10 Rohini area of New Delhi. It has drawn inspiration from the Universal Studios’ Citywalk concept, with a shopping mall and restaurants attached to an amusement park.
Adventure Island opened in 2007, and is spread over 62 acre. It consists of an amusement and water park integrated with the Metro Walk Mall. A bridge, resembling San Francisco’s Golden Gate, stands between the island and the Metro Walk mall. An artificial lake, spread over 3.5 acre, separates the two.
The Adventure Island offers rides for people of all ages. All the rides are supplied and maintained by leading European manufacturers such as Intamin, Moser and Zamperla, who also supply rides to Disney, Universal Studios and Six Flags. The rides are state-of-the-art and very contemporary.
The bright yellow walls, clock towers, gardens, fountains, and the appearance of a jungle that includes trees, mountains, river, waterfalls and wave pool, add to the ambience. The park has corkscrew slides, waterfalls, a giant wave pool, rambling river, and many similar attractions. It has three sections which offer simple rides, water rides and other attractions, such as The King Of Quick guns, MAD theatre, and International Boats Club.
The rides include Cyclone, Bush Buggies, Flip Put, Space Jump, Fire Brigade, Wild Wheels, Z Force, Sidewinder, Derby Devils, Sky Riders, Lighting Bold, Twister, Splash Dunk, Air Bus, Float Boat, Rocking Tug, Trail Train and Bumper Cars.
The favourites include bumper boats, which replicate the experience of bumper cars on a lake. Other favourites are side winder and flip flop rides. The first is an improved version of the giant boat and rotates 360 degrees with every swing. The flip flop takes five 360 degree rotations before zooming down.
The Metro Walk has a number of showrooms of big national and international brands, including Pantaloons, Reebok and Nike, and food and beverage outlets. The 108 retail outlets are spread over 200,000 sq ft on two levels. The shopping area consists of a cloud court, grand court and central court which are themed accordingly for events and promotions. The mall has an area of 3.5 acre dedicated to POGO branding.Food & beverage brands present here include KFC, Punjabi by Nature, Fast Trax, Spoon the
Food Court, Pizza Hut, Yo China, Nirula’s, Pind Balluchi, Flaming Wok, Gola Sizzler, Baskin Robins, Ruby Tuesday, Barista, Costa Coffee, McDonald’s, Cafe Coffee Day, and Geoffrey’s.
Adventure Island at times also organises special events during the festival season, such as Dandiya Fun-utsav during Navrataris.
