Bengaluru airport renamed

The Union Cabinet of India has approved the renaming of Bengaluru International Airport. Bengaluru airport Bengaluru airport gets renamed

The airport will now be called as Kempegowda International Airport. The Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) is a Greenfield airport in South India which became operational in 2008.

The airport is named after Hiriya Kempegowda, a ruler under the Vijaynagar Empire, who ruled most parts of Karnataka during the 16th century.
